Jef Vandorpe (16) has been named ‘Junior of the year (max. 18 years old)’ by tennis news websites Tennisplaza België and Tennisplaza Belgique (now called Tennisinfo). It’s his second award of the year after Tennis Vlaanderen (federation) named him ‘Most promising talent’ of the year.

Visitors of both websites could vote and gave the Hopiness’ talent the lead just before Belgian junior Tibo Colson. Other nominees were Belgian talents Frederic Jacobs, Victoria Kalaitzis and Axana Mareen.

Jef is now ranked second on the ITF Junior Wheelchair ranking and 26 with the professionals, which makes him the highest ranked player of his age in both rankings.

This year Jef won the professional tournaments of Padova, Middelburg, Antwerp, Leuven and Biel-Bienne. In addition, he also won the doubles tournament in Ath. In the junior series he was the best in the tournaments of Knokke, Velp, Antwerp and the singles and doubles tournament in Rue.
